- Clean out the water strainer or transmission cooler.
- Replace the impeller and gaskets or seals as needed.
- Validate operation of new impeller.
If your boat has overheated, the impeller will disinigrate and the pieces will clog up your cooling sytem. These pieces must be found and/or flushed out to ensure proper cooling and prevent damage to the new impeller. A broken impeller can cost an hour or more of extra time to the impeller replacement.
