Shopping for a boat, though, can be somewhat challenging, especially if this is the first time you're buying a boat. Here are a few things to consider before you check out some boats in person.
What Size?
First, you'll want to think about what size of boat you need. This factor will depend on the bodies of water you intend to boat in, as well as the number of people you intend to boat with. If you're going to boat in shallow, small lakes and rivers, a smaller boat will be needed to successfully navigate the waterway without running aground. However, if you plan to take your boat out on the Oregon Coast you're going to want something bigger and sturdier that can handle the tides.
How Will It Be Used?
Next, you'll have to contemplate how you plan to use your boat. If you want to go fishing, you'll need features like a livewell and swivel seats, but if you want to tow wakeboarders, you'll need a boat with a powerful motor that can make wakes. And if you want to entertain, you'll want lots of comfortable seating and maybe an enclosed cabin.
